Always good to read this. The life of a singer is such a strange dichotomy; you need to be vulnerable in order to move the audience, but you need to have a thick skin in order to take criticism and improve. I don’t think anyone really has it figured out.

I know that life and the dreams that come with it are never given easily- but where are the parents when you need them, really? Especially when youre twenty and you need them more than ever? All because youve hit the big two zero doesnt mean that youre done and that emotionally youre allowed to scream more at said child- really, havent you ever been there? Try remembering it for once, instead of expecting one to just laugh.
Yet then again everyone`s in their own separate boat right now in One`s life- four people have had cancer in my family, and my Grandmother has Alzheimer`s, thankfully medicated. The worry, the pain and the fear is there, thick and permeating- but I’m above it, I care and I see it but there`s only so much you can do as a human being watching others being alive.
So I continue to study, dive into music, theatre, getting my life together and charging forward, feeling like I never do enough to quantify as what`s alright- and my parents are so stressed, in their own separate worlds that in our own boats do we shine the beacon but never do we meet for now. Funny how when youre younger you want to grow up quickly but when youre almost on that step and youre made to run five miles up the stairs more, it gets tiring and its a long journey up alone.
But one of the things that keeps me going is just remembering what Herr Terfel said when I met him and we talked about music- that one day he looks forward to being under my baton, and that he sees me conducting Wagner one day. That gives me a push beyond this state of just being and wanting to go forward beyond fear and to be more- One`s so glad that I got to meet him after the concert. It was an amazing experience and it keeps this Dandy going even when the path gets dark. So calm. Calm down, and breathe. The boats will meet again anyway.
It`ll happen- the dream is there my dream is there, so close- all One needs to do is keep on trucking and not ever give up.
